Wollongong is 82 kilometres (51 miles) south of Sydney. Wollongong is a vibrant, multicultural city, situated on one of Australia’s most beautiful coastlines.
Wollongong is a great place for fun with the family, adults and kids. There are two lighthouses in close proximity one of them is at the point of land, and then there is another overlooking little Wollongong Harbour. The whole area is worth stopping to stroll around. And, there are a couple of nice cafes overlooking the harbour.
Azure sky, green lawn, white lighthouse and a rolling sea make up the ingredients for a perfect photo opportunity. It’s great picnic territory as the grounds around the lighthouse are perfect for a rug and a basket. Restaurants can be found in the nearby area and you can always have fish and chips to go.
Wollongong Head Lighthouse provides stunning views across the ocean and beach below. We walked along the beach first and climbed the stairs up to the park to get to the lighthouse. There are also some cannons up here – great for families with children and anyone looking for photo opportunities.
Overall a nice place to explore, with great scenery and views and would make a good spot for a picnic!
Most beautiful areas in Grand pacific drive is from Stanwell park to Wollongong. The sea cliff bridge is one of the Icon in this area. From Stanwell tops you can see the bridge view. And also you can see the trains travelling around the mountain. It is one of the best place to take photographs. For more detail shots please check out our Photography page 🙂
