Lorne, Victoria

Lorne is a town southwest of Melbourne, Australia. Lorne is 138 kilometres (86 mi) south-west of Melbourne on the iconic Great Ocean Road. This is a beautiful part of the world, let alone Victoria, and a great place to stop off at the start of the Great Ocean Road. Lorne town centre has some great spots for accommodation, food and drinks.

Erskine River arises in the Otway Ranges and enters Bass Strait to the east of Cape Otway through the town of Lorne. It’s ideal for the fishing enthusiast as it features three new fishing platforms. Also a beautiful walk to enjoy with family. You can take a walk over the swing bridge and along the coast. Had a great time with kids looking in the rock pools and waves pounding.

Local activities include traditional beach pursuits such as family bathing and surfing as well as pier fishing. Some of the facilities include free parking, toilet and shower blocks, kiosk and picnic areas with BBQ.Teddy’s Lookout lies at the end of George Street on the town’s southern outskirts and offers fine views over the town, coastline, and Great Ocean Road.

Lorne has one of the best beaches in the area and a must every time we go down there. Also lots of cafes nearby as well so you can sit out on the decking with a drink and watch the waves.

Lorne foreshore playground is between the shops and the beautiful sandy beach. This playground has everything for all ages of children which include trampolines, open air swimming pool (in the summer months), mini golf, bbq’s, picnic tables and the open green to kick a footy with option of endless enjoyment for the entire family. Located beside the playground on the Foreshore is the Skatepark. Designed by Globe, it includes a Deep Globe Bowl and average Street Course Track. For more detail shots please check out our Photography page 🙂
