Phi Phi Islands, Thailand

Just a 45-minute speedboat trip or a 90-minute ferryboat ride from either Phuket or Krabi. Phi Phi is a group of six islands. The two main islands are Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh. Phi Phi Islands are one of Thailand’s most famous destinations for scuba diving and snorkeling, kayaking and other marine recreational activities. Also this beach made famous in the Leonardo DiCaprio film “The Beach”.  We wanted to see it from long time.

Van picked us up at our hotel in Patong Beach area at 7.20 am then 30 min drive to Rassada Harbour where we boarded the big boat with many others. Pick up and drop off to hotel was included in tour price. It can fit hundreds of people. Tea, coffee and water are free. Boat left at 8.30 am and arrived at Phi Phi Leh Maya Bay at 10 am. It stopped about 100 m from the beach and we were given goggles and snorkels to do snorkelling near the boat. My kids loved it and were fascinated by the fact how much tropical fish was there to see. You get to see all the beautiful spots. Most of these spots are uninhabited, where locals come in the morning, set up shops and leave in the evening. So given that you have 8-9 hours from 8 am onwards, you can only spend so much time at each spot other than the main Island. The ferry took the lap of entire island and then headed to Phi Phi Don for a stop and lunch break. Lunch is included in the tour price as well and was buffet lunch. After the lunch we were given time to enjoy the beach which we did. We went for a quick dip, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Phi Phi Don beach is one of the most scenic beaches in Thailand.

Loved Phi Phi Don and the surrounding area. Great lunch and snorkelling, A very nice way to spend a day. We had an absolutely enjoyable day out at the sea touring these beautiful islands. For more detail shots please check out our Photography page 🙂
