2019 is Moomba’s 65th year, Australia’s largest free community festival with millions of people attending every year.

Held over four days, every Labour Day long weekend, Moomba brings Melburnians together to share in the vibrancy and spirit of our much loved city.

All fun and free courtesy the City of Melbourne.Β

As I mentioned Moomba Festival is the longest running festival in Australia. Great non stop action for kids is guaranteed with a parade through the streets of Melbourne and a large number of activities along the famous Yarra River catering for all diversities of people.Β

Since 1955, the Moomba Parade has captured the hearts and imaginations of Melburnians, bringing to life the vitality and energy of the beloved festival. The parade featured dance troupes and community groups as well as the larger-than-life floats, which were designed by children. The parade is officially opened with a Welcome to Country address by the Wurundjeri Tribe.

The famous Water Skiing event attracts competitors from all over the world .Once you have finished watching the parade on the Monday a quick stroll through Birrarung Marr gets you to all the action. A great day or week out for a tourist or locals. The most famous being the Birdman Rally as competitors jump from a large ramp high above the river and see how far they can fly, lots of fun and laughter.Β
